Dance the Dance · Play the Music - 23. & 24. January 2027
with Isabel de Lorenzo & Gudrun Herold
Get ready to not only dance, but to BE the music!
Join Isabel de Lorenzo and Gudrun Herold from the Dance Sisters Collective for a weekend of FCBD® Style, rhythm, music and connection in the Black Forest, Germany!
Both Isabel and Gudrun are long-time certified FCBD® Style instructors and sister studio owners who teach classes and workshops internationally. Alongside their shared passion for FCBD® Style and their extensive dance experience, they bring a deep connection to music and a wealth of musical knowledge.
Isabel has been playing finger cymbals (sagat/zills) since 1990, refining her skills with renowned musicians including Karim Nagi and Hossam Ramzy.
Her many years of performing and teaching with live musicians have shaped her approach to musicality. She helps dancers develop their active listening skills, deepen their understanding of rhythm and musical structure, and build a more conscious, expressive relationship with music. Isabel also enjoys singing Brazilian and Arabic songs and playing the guitar.
Music has been part of Gudrun's life since childhood. She began taking singing lessons at the age of six and started playing the cello at seven. She studied music and performed in several orchestras and bands. Six years ago, she immersed herself in the world of percussion and voice. Among her teachers are renowned musicians and teachers Murat Coşkun, Glen Velez, Zohar Fresco and Mohammad Reza Mortazavi. She is currently recording her first album, featuring music created specifically for FCBD® Style.
This weekend is an invitation to explore the musical side of FCBD® Style, to discover rhythms, play zills and frame drum, sing together, and experience how it feels to dance to music we create ourselves.
What we'll explore together
🥁 Dance, Rhythm, Zills & Frame Drum
Learn to recognize, count and play well-known North African rhythms on the frame drum and with your zills. We'll explore rhythmic patterns that are beautifully suited to FCBD® Style and bring them into our dance.
🎶 Song & Voice
We'll learn the Macedonian song Rumelaj, explore its history, learn its rhythmic pattern, and discover how to sing and play it together.
